As a company, we are your go-to source for premium processed and packaged coffee, both in powder and whole beans. We're based in Kampala-Wakiso, Central Uganda.
We take pride in providing our customers with the highest quality coffee, ensuring a rich, aromatic and flavourful experience in every cup.
Arabica Coffee is one of the best; grown in small quantities in Uganda but premium price locally and globally. You need to taste it. Grown in Uganda/Kenya at altitudes of 1,200-2,500 metres, it is renowned for its complex, high-altitude profile characterized by bright, wine-like acidity, full body, and rich flavour notes. Common notes include berry, plum, tropical fruits, citrus, dark chocolate, and sometimes floral hints. Simply put, it has strong in aroma.
The brand LEAN COFFE was intentionally born in October 2022, when the proprietor (Masaba Julius) was torn between joining the coffee value chain as an employee (Cupper or Q-Grader, Barista) or employer (entrepreneur). He had finished his training and awarded a Certificate in Coffee Processing and Quality Control at NUCAFE, under the SAY Project funded by AVSI.
Since he already had a registered company, which also had an Agribusiness Arm, he decided to become a coffee-preneur.
It took him two full years to start, because he kept procrastinating due to lack of capital, much as he was also working a full-time job. But when the job finally came to and end in September 2024, he saw it as a blessing in disguise, and in that same month, he started processing coffee using the savings he had accumulated. He has never looked back since then.
Julius is at the centre of LEAN COFFEE that comes to your cup, ensuring that it is sourced well from the farmers who cultivate it on the slopes of Mt. Elgon (from Bulambuli to Namisindwa), transported well, processed, tasted, packaged and stored before being delivered to you. In short, quality control is one of his tasks aside from being the Team Lead.
We invite you to share with us the culture of coffee.
Masaba Julius

From the Farm.....
The small native coffee farms on the foothills of Mt. Elgon mainly use family or household labour. Once the coffee trees are mature and the coffee berries red and ripe, they are handpicked and collected in wooden or woven baskets, sometimes in plastic jerricans. The farmers do this with dedication to build quality on the final coffee bean, since they know it is what brings in the good money. We work hand in hand with a few of these farming families to supply us with good green beans, meticulously selecting the finest coffee cherries, to manage the entire journey from harvest to the roasting of the beans.
.....to Processing, and then the Cup
Our coffee is handpicked by the farmers, wet processed (sometimes with honey), sundried on raised wooden platforms, beds or racks in solar tunnels or transparent sundriers .
Our focus on sustainability and fair trade practices ensures that the farming families that supply us do their coffee growing without cutting trees. Rather as the norm, they do intercropping with plantain (bananas).
All this done to ensure that you our coffee drinkers enjoy a delicious cup of coffee, but also support indirectly the local community and environment. We are committed to providing a premium coffee experience for coffee lovers around the in Uganda, Africa and outside the continent.
